MABAS Division 56

Montgomery County Webpage

• The 10 Montgomery County Fire Departments, 5 Ambulance Services, Montgomery County EMA, Carlinville and Gillespie Fire are part of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 56. MABAS is a statewide organization of over 550 agencies that have the capability to work together when a disaster strikes. Many members of MABAS Division 56 have specialized equipment, as seen above, that any other member of MABAS 56 can call upon for assistance during incidents or disasters.

• Parts of areas west of Medora are covered by Greenfield Fire (Greene County)
• A very small part of the area east of Staunton is covered by New Douglas Fire (Madison County)
• Parts of the area east of Gillespie on IL-16 is covered by Litchfield Ambulance (Montgomery County)

MABAS Division 35 ^WEB

• Established July 2001 and operates under the Illinois State MABAS organization which has been around since 1968.
• Consists of fire departments and stake holders in Madison County Illinois, but also includes departments from Jersey, Macoupin, Montgomery, and Bond counties, as well as a few fire departments located in Missouri just across the Mississippi river.

2023/2024 - It appears that the UHF Receive/Transmit sites are NO LONGER IN USE. All traffic appears to transmit from all sites now. (Simulcast?) The repeater has very good coverage (including portables), with remote receive and transmitter sites, into all surrounding counties and into the city of Springfield. This repeater system is a voting system, you may hear multiple responses (on the 46x MHz links) from mobiles on the receiving towers back to the 911 tower to be voted on to go out on 154.7475 R.
